CHAPEL SPON END

This photograph of St. Christopher’s chapel was taken in the 1940’s. I was under the impression that the whole building had been demolished. Father Barry Keeton, the rector of St. John’s church was kind enough to correct me. In fact the buildings which had been added to the mediaeval structure which can be seen in the picture, were removed to reveal the remains of the mediaeval chapel, which still stands beside the Spon bridge over the river Sherbourne.
